Dal Lake Resort

Room service could use improvement. The staff were friendly and polite, but service was often slow. The setting is the main draw. The hotel sits on the banks of Dal Lake, and from my room I had an uninterrupted view of the serene lake, rolling clouds, and majestic mountains. It’s a spectacular spot for taking in the area’s natural beauty.

We booked rooms at Dal Lake Resort for a holiday with our two families, and it turned out to be one of our best stays ever. The morning view was lovely from whichever room you were in, and the rooms themselves were spacious and beautiful, with balconies. The staff were genial, welcoming, and humble. That trip gave us memories that will last forever. Ever since, I’ve recommended Dal Lake Resort to anyone planning a holiday in Maclodganj.

The property was very clean and well maintained, and the view was superb. The rooms were good too. Mr Arjun made sure our Jain food arrived on time and tasted good, and he was always available to help. It was wonderful to be welcomed by such a helpful staff member, and he made our stay really comfortable.

The location is hard to reach, with no road to the property. The room was big but not clean, and the bathroom smelled bad. There were no tissues, soap, or dental kit in the bathroom, and they didn’t even provide disposable slippers. The food they served was stale. There was no power backup, or at least nobody started a generator when the lights went out for 2-3 hours. In this cold, hilly area, hot water should be available continuously, but the geyser took 20 minutes to heat up and then only gave hot water for a minute or so. The room heater cost an extra 800 RS per day, which felt like a rip-off, and it didn’t work properly. No hospitality or service. I can’t give this hotel even one star.
