Toshali Royal View Resort

There’s plenty of parking, and the rooms are nice at this property on the Kufri-Chail road. Food was average for the prices, though there aren’t many nearby options, so you’ll probably have to rely on the hotel for dinner. Hotel service was on par.

The natural scenery around Toshali Resort, with greenery and beautiful views, made the stay feel special. It’s calm, clean, and relaxing, a great break from city life. Staff were polite, helpful, and professional, and they took care of needs promptly. We had a wonderful, comfortable stay with excellent service. I’d definitely recommend it.

The rooms are spacious and clean, with an amazing view, and the staff are courteous, polite, humble, and always willing to help. Room service food is palatable, but the breakfast buffet is below average. Management should improve its range, quality, and taste. There’s no ventilation because the windows and balcony door have to stay closed due to the monkey nuisance. Management should read the reviews and add strong netting for proper airflow. The bathroom has no shower curtain, so it gets very wet and dirty during a shower. Also, after one person bathes, the next has to wait half an hour for hot water.

The food and housekeeping let this place down for us. Breakfast and lunch were just average, dinner was poor, with dry, overly spicy tandoori chicken, bland manchurian, and an unappealing main course. Desserts were the one bright spot, though there weren't many choices. With around 70-75 guests on our corporate trip, housekeeping seemed understaffed and service was delayed and inconsistent. The rooms look nice, and the colonial-style building follows the slope with balconies and plenty of amenities, but comfort and function were only average. Below the Executive Deluxe category, basics like toiletries, an outdated TV, poor wardrobes, and heaters that didn't work well made the price hard to justify. Kufri and Shillon Bagh have better rooms with similar views in the same price range. The valley scenery is the real draw, especially with snow on the mountains. Just keep in mind that Toshali Royal View is outside both Shimla and Kufri, and getting there means a 7-15 km drive on roads that can feel risky in bad weather. The views and architecture are lovely, but at these prices, the rooms, meals, and service didn't measure up.
