Te Aroha By Shervani, Mukteshwar

The food feels fresh and homely, and the staff are attentive and genuinely go out of their way to help. Te Aroha is a lovely boutique stay in Mukteshwar, with heritage-style architecture, carefully put-together interiors, and striking Himalayan views. From arrival, the welcome feels warm and elegant. A peaceful, comfortable escape with plenty of character, and well worth the stay.

The staff made the stay feel personal. Meals arrived right on time, were prepared the way we asked, and came with a smile. They even set up an evening bonfire, which gave the place a homey feel in the hills. Our room had lots of space and was thoughtfully arranged, including an attic and a separate sleeping area for the kids, which they loved. Te Aroha by Shervani has a rare old-world atmosphere, from the wooden interiors and warm lighting to its peaceful pre-Independence vibe. The property is tastefully put together throughout. I’d happily spend a few nights here in Mukteshwar.

We’ve tried plenty of mountain stays while looking for somewhere new each time, and this vintage property really stood out. The views are a lovely extra, but the food and hospitality were what won us over. The staff are so humble and ready to help. One of our best experiences.

The Kumaoni Thali was a real highlight, with authentic flavors, a nicely balanced spread, and a presentation that showed care for tradition. The dining room’s atmosphere suited the meal well. Te Aroha by Shervani itself is quiet and beautifully designed, with vintage touches and a warm, elegant feel throughout. It’s a peaceful place surrounded by lovely scenery. The staff were courteous and attentive, making sure we were comfortable without hovering. A very enjoyable stay.
