The worst part was how the hot water arrangement was handled. Because Ooty is cold, you need hot water at least to bathe, but we didn’t get it as expected. We’d been told there would be hot water in the morning, yet only later did we learn that we had to use a ground-floor bathroom. It had a Western toilet, but the space was very small and cramped. The cottages next door, which I think belong to the same owner, also used that bathroom, so it wasn’t just us sharing it. Nobody told us about this at check-in, and I was very frustrated. The attached toilet and separate bathroom in our room were otherwise clean, though someone’s underwear had been left hanging in the bathroom. It looked clean, but I don’t think every corner had been checked. There was no power from the morning and no generator, so we had to stand in a lobby-like room while charging our phones and keep an eye on them.
