Hotel Blue Hills International

I hadn’t found many great places to eat in Ooty, then happened upon this restaurant. It looks modest, but the food is worth trying. The biryanis were awesome, and the service was pretty quick.

There was barely room for two people, let alone luggage, and the charging plugs didn’t work. No fan, poor lighting, and the room and washroom were extremely unhygienic. This is the worst quality room I’ve ever seen.

It’s close to the District Collector's Office, police station, and most restaurants. The receptionist was very humble, and the room was cleaned. Soap, towels, and blankets were provided, along with drinking water in a flask. Bathing hot water is time-based, available for two hours in the morning and two in the evening. The price was affordable, and there’s an old-style elevator. Parking is limited, so we left our car on the roadside.

We stayed four days in April 2024. The hotel is well placed for food joints, and the rooms are spacious and clean. Some rooms look out over town, but mine faced a wall. Soap, towels, and blankets were provided. Hot water for bathing was available for two hours in the morning and two in the evening; drinking hot water came in a flask on request. They cleaned the room when asked. There’s an old-style elevator, and the receptionist was very humble. A bar operates on the ground floor. Parking is limited, and apart from one day we left the car on the roadside. Construction work made it very noisy at night. The Income tax office and hotel Shinwoks Chinese restaurant are nearby.
