Ponmari Residency

The calm atmosphere made Ponmari Residency a relaxing place to stay in Ooty. Our room was clean, comfortable and well kept, and the staff were helpful and courteous throughout. The food was fresh and tasty, and came on time. I'd recommend it to anyone after a comfortable, budget-friendly stay.

We had a wonderful family stay and the rooms were neat and clean. The food quality was outstanding, and both the restaurant staff and service were excellent. Everything was served on time. The staff were professional and courteous. It was awesome and good value for money. We highly recommend it to our friends and family.

For a peaceful stay, this isn't the right place. During our two days, reception was empty about 70% of the time. The person calling himself the manager talked big but couldn't make sure guests had basic needs. There was no hygiene: in our first room, the bed and pillows had a bulk of hairs, so we changed rooms. We had two rooms and needed an extra bed, but the service guy just left it outside, expecting me to set it up. Complaining didn't help. The room had lots of mosquitoes. I called him 6-7 times to ask for a mat and got no response. When I asked the next morning, he had no answer. On the second day, no one was at reception before we left, so we couldn't hand over our key for cleaning. When we returned, he blamed us for not dropping it off.

The basement room felt damp, and the bathroom cupboards and drawers were decayed. For Rs 9000/-, that room was on the high side. The next day was Easter Sunday, and after arriving Saturday we found it hard to get a hotel in Ooty, so we took what we could get. I should have booked through booking.com, which showed Rs. 6k. The room itself was just okay. Staff could have been more welcoming and cordial. I won't stay at this property again.
