Mr. Dhanabalan kept in touch even though he wasn't available to meet us, and sent details of nearby hotels since the cottage has no restaurant on site. He messaged before check-in, and after we left, checked whether we had arrived home safely. That personal concern made us feel cared for. Mr. Babbu, the caretaker, was polite and helpful throughout our two-day visit. The Hillside Cottage is a small but well-kept property on a hillside with beautiful views. A calm, homely spot to return to after sightseeing. We stayed at The Hillside Cottage in Ooty from Feb 2 to Feb 4, 2026. The room, bed, and bathroom were all clean, neat, and well arranged, which was especially comforting after a long journey. The price was affordable compared with many other places in Ooty, without giving up comfort or quality, and we felt it was worth the cost. Our stay was smooth and relaxing, and I’d recommend it to families, couples, or solo travelers looking for a clean, comfortable, budget-friendly place with a welcoming host.

The rooftop was lovely in the morning, and being a little away from the main street worked out well since holiday traffic can clog it. The rooms were decent and the bathroom was kept very well, though the bed sheet wasn’t clean enough. That’s the main thing they should improve. At first we were given a room with no outside view because other guests had reserved the view rooms. They initially refused our request, but after we explained the first-come, first-served basis, they agreed to move us to the room we wanted. That was polite of them, and we appreciated it. It was our first time in Ooty, and the stay felt easy and hassle-free. It’s a small place run by one person, with only a few tidy rooms.
