Getting here can be a struggle if you don't have your own vehicle. The property is on a slope, walking up is tiring, and there doesn't seem to be public transport nearby. The address on Google Maps is wrong, so go to hotel Baron first. That's where the reception and other formalities are handled, then follow the map to the property. There's no restaurant or room service here, and nobody stays at this hotel. The reception counter is in another hotel. The owner seemed rude, and at one point I was concerned about our security. I stayed for a day during my visit to Ooty and ran into a lot of issues.

The cottage is simple and clean, with a peaceful setting and a superb balcony view. Hospitality was about what you'd expect. They bring food to the room without an extra fee. Just be aware that the walk between the reception and cottage is around 200 metres and can feel spooky at night.

It could work well for a stopover, but the place is away from the main hotel. You can hear conversations from the neighboring rooms, and there are no kettles in the rooms. The kitchen is in another building, so the food arrives cold. Still, it's a nice place to stay.

A lovely spot with a pleasant atmosphere and a great view across the hills and city. The location is excellent, and both the staff and food quality were great.

The atmosphere is nice, but staying in woodcock cottage means you might not even get a glass of water. The staff wouldn't bring anything even when I asked. Then, at checkout, the receptionist took my phone and gave the stay a 5-star rating. I found that really, really annoying.
