I visited on Friday in December 2025 and still found a crowd, so weekends would probably be even busier. There are no fees or tickets to visit. The guided tours run every hour and are well worth taking if it's your first time. I also enjoyed the good-quality cafeteria food, with fair prices. Mini Vrindavan parikrama at Govardhan Eco Village in Galtare was a deeply transformative spiritual experience, surrounded by lush greenery. The air felt incredibly clean compared with the city, and the whole campus was impressively tidy. Some temple construction was still going on, though the site was already breathtaking. My only complaint is the road to the village, which the government needs to repair for easier driving. The bumpy arrival aside, it's absolutely worth the trip and a must-visit for anyone around Mumbai.

The road choice matters a lot on the way here. From Virar, Govardhan Eco Village is around 50+ km away and usually takes 2 to 3 hours depending on traffic. The highway route is reasonably comfortable, and I recommend it even if it's a little longer. The alternative via Ganeshpuri is in extremely bad shape, rough and uneven enough to risk vehicle damage. On a two-wheeler, the potholes and jolts can really strain your back. Once there, though, the place feels slow, quiet, and soothing. I visited on a weekday, when there were very few people, so I could walk around, sit quietly, meditate, and enjoy the surroundings without disturbance. The clean, green campus has open spaces, trees, and eco-friendly structures, with sustainability, organic farming, and simple living visible throughout. It feels like a good break from noise, screens, and stress. The food court was hygienic, and the ₹150 thali was great value. It came with rice, dal, and dry sabzi, and it was unlimited. The menu changes regularly. Chaas was refreshing with the meal, and the simple, tasty kulfi was satisfying too. It's suited to a one-day family picnic, with open areas for kids, calm spots for elders, and meaningful experiences for adults. Accommodation is available on campus if you want to stay longer and experience the early mornings, quiet evenings, and rhythm of village life. Parking is free and easy for two-wheelers and four-wheelers, and the staff and volunteers were generally polite and helpful. Govardhan Eco Village is a thoughtfully designed place with peace, cleanliness, good food, and a real connection with nature. Even with the poor Ganeshpuri road, I found it worth visiting, whether alone, with family, or for a short stay. I left feeling refreshed, calm, and content.

What keeps me coming back to Govardhan EcoVillage (GEV) is how well it works for different people. I visit on my own, with family, and often with students, colleagues, and friends from the West. Whether they want to rest, learn, reflect, or find inspiration, the experience seems to meet them where they are. There are a few things to know: GEV is part of the Krishna bhakti devotional tradition of Hinduism and affiliated with ISKCON (aka the Hare Krishna movement). The food is all veg, there’s no drinking or smoking on campus, rooms don’t have TV’s, and quiet hours are enforced at night. Even if you aren’t affiliated with ISKCON, follow another spiritual Tradition, or are agnostic about religion, you can still have a wonderful time. The grounds are serene and beautifully cared for, with peaceful paths, gardens, and a thoughtfully designed Vrindavan Forest that feels immersive, educational, and restorative. Prem Sarovar is a gorgeous swan lake and also serves as an innovative eco-friendly rain catch for the community. The open air Madan Mohan temple is majestic, too. The evening Yamuna Aarti felt deeply moving and tranquil, even for first-time visitors. The cow cuddling and goshala visit was joyful and grounding, and the sustainability tours impressed me with practical ideas around renewable energy, water conservation, organic farming, and mindful community living. GEV also works to address poverty and farmer suicides by supporting sustainable agriculture in neighboring local tribal villages, along with women’s empowerment programs, schools, and other initiatives. That’s cutting edge work, especially from a community made up mainly of monastics. The rooms are simple and charmingly rustic, yet comfortable and impeccably clean. Food was consistently fresh, nourishing, and made with care. We mostly ate at the tasty buffets, but sometimes had pizzas, dosas, and other options. Staff are warm and attentive without being intrusive. The gift shop deserves a mention as well, with a beautiful selection of meaningful keepsakes and gifts. GEV is a rare mix of peace, purpose, and hospitality, and it’s a place that stays with me long after I leave. Highly recommended!

The design is lovely, with nature all around, and it made for a peaceful place to unwind. We spent quality time with family and friends and came away happy and refreshed. Visited Govardhan Eco Village, Wada today. A calm, positive place that everyone should visit at least once.

Caring for the cows with reverence and compassion, as part of go-seva, was a touching reminder of their place in our culture and spiritual life. Watching devotees tend to them gave me a strong sense of that care. Govardhan Eco Village in Galtare, Wada, felt like a spiritual and transformative visit from the moment I arrived, with peace and devotion throughout. Sri Sri Radha Vrindavan Bihari Temple stands at the village's heart, with energy that reminded me of Vrindavan Dham. The chants, incense, and temple bells all added to an atmosphere that nourished my heart and soul. Simplicity and sustainability show up everywhere, in harmony with nature. The organic farms grow fresh vegetables, grains, and herbs, and the eco-friendly cottages balance modern comfort with traditional wisdom. GEV's organic products felt pure and natural, made with love and devotion, and a lovely way to bring a piece of this holy place home. For me, Govardhan Eco Village is a divine retreat that reconnects you with your roots, faith, and Mother Earth. A must-visit if you're seeking peace, devotion, and spiritual rejuvenation. 🌸🙏
