About this property

Baghvan Lodge is located on the edge of Pench National Park, one of Central India's lesser-known reserves, situated in the Seoni and Chhindwara districts of Madhya Pradesh. The park, dominated by hills, forests, and valleys, derives its name from the Pench River, which meanders through its 757 square kilometers. The lodge is a short five-minute drive from the park entrance. Charming individual suites offer a contemporary bungalow feel, each comprising two interlinked buildings accessed through private courtyards. Suites feature spacious, air-conditioned bedrooms with private shaded sit-outs, complete with a traditional Jharokha wooden latticed bay window. Bathrooms are generously proportioned and include double vanities.

I felt a little uneasy walking outside to reach the bathroom after dark, especially in the buffer zone. A covered path between the room and bathroom would have helped. The rooms at Baghvan were clean, comfortable and safe, though the bathrooms in particular looked a bit dated. The people and food made the stay. Shyamji was especially helpful with our needs and made sure we were comfortable and well fed. Chef Laxman cooked lovely meals and handled our dietary restrictions well. Since he’s local, we also got to enjoy local flavors. The breakfast meals packed for safari were sustainable and had everything we needed. Naturalist Eric was knowledgeable and clearly loves his work. He shared his experiences and helped us find more animals than the local guides inside the core zone did. I loved the place and the staff. All considered, I doubt there’s a better place to spend time at Pench Tiger Reserve.

The naturalist was enthusiastic and knew the local plants and animals well. There’s a raw jungle energy to the place, and the rooms have that five-star jungle feel. Food choices are limited, but what we had was great. Staff were polite and very helpful.

The property is built in a way that respects nature, and the warm, welcoming team made us feel so well looked after. Bhairu sir, Ajay sir, Karan veer, Lakshman and many others all went the extra step to take care of us. Super, super, super hospitality. A must visit.

Taj Baghvan sits among the jungle, with a lovely mix of rustic character and understated luxury. Every staff member we met was smiling, attentive, and made sure the details were taken care of. Mr. Ajit, Laxman, Shyam, and Chef Kanhaiya deserve a special thank you for making our stay such a delight. We had an amazing time.

We had an excellent two-night stay at Taj Safari, timed with the first safari of the season. Best of all, we got to see a tiger! The staff were very attentive and the food was delicious. We also enjoyed the pottery tour and the morning walk in the boundary zone, both worth doing if you’re there for a few days. Huge thanks to our safari guides for making it a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
