Hotel Sri Sabthagiri

What stood out most was the receptionist's honesty. At checkout, after I'd returned the room key and we were outside by the gate, they came out a few minutes later to say I'd left my watch behind. I checked and realized it was missing, so I really appreciate them returning it safely. We stayed two days at Hotel Sabthagiri, Pondicherry, and found it very affordable compared with other options there. The room was hygienic, and the floors and washroom were well maintained. Privacy and cleanliness stayed excellent throughout. Staff were polite, humble, and supportive. The location is convenient, with good bus links and easy access to many famous places in Pondicherry. A great stay, highly recommended! ✅

We had seven people, including two toddlers, and came to the veg restaurant around 8 PM on 28/5/2026. We ordered two dosa and two idly. After we'd eaten one and a half of the idly, we found a dead cockroach in the sambar. We shouted and walked out, and gave up on booking a room too. Even in an emergency, please try another good restaurant and available rooms.

A good, affordable hotel with friendly reception staff. Guests get free breakfast, and room service and laundry are available. Hot water runs 24 hours.

We paid quite a lot, but the rooms were cramped, too small, not very clean, and had almost no ventilation. The owner was very rude. We checked out at 11am, then later asked to use a room for 10 minutes to change, since we were all girls. He refused without understanding the situation.
