Sornalaxmi Residency

Mr Shabbir was the highlight of the stay, always ready to help with food, sightseeing, or anything else we needed. The hotel is right in the heart of the city, and our room was decent, clean, and nice. Service was prompt. Breakfast was the same every day, though, and I suggested they add more choices.

Soornalaxmi Residency was a good-value budget stay for our one night and two days. The management was polite and spoke English well. Everything else was fine, but the AC and TV weren't working while we were there, which was disappointing. Budget lo okay, but it would be better if the basics worked!

The location is tucked away. For tea you have to travel at least 600 metres, and restaurants are at least 1 km away. A rickshaw will charge Rs 150. Surguru is the best nearby option for vegetarian food. For non-veg chicken, you can order on Zomato from "Banana leaf barnbeque restaurant", 1.5 km away, and "Madurai Veedu". The rooms were good and clean, and the staircase and floor lobby were clean and beautiful. We asked to have the room cleaned and they did it. Service was good, but the bed needs improvement. My back hurt after sleeping on it.

The owner and staff were good, and the location and hospitality were great. They have bike rentals, so you can head out as soon as you arrive. Staff helped with our luggage when we arrived and left, and arranged an auto to the bus station. Very good for families.
