Hotel Runway Inn

Hotel Runway Inn is right by the airport, and the rooms were clean, though small. It’s decent if you only need somewhere to sleep for one night. Don’t eat at the restaurant: it took hours for them to take and serve our order. I was also charged too much for naan. I pointed out that it cost 80, but the bill listed 120. If you need a bed for the night, it may do; otherwise, pick somewhere with better amenities and food. Choose carefully.

The rooftop restaurant was nice and the service there was good. The hotel is close to the airport and on the main road, with all kinds of transport available. Staff were cooperative and quick, and the rooms were clean and good value. It was an excellent stay.

You can watch planes take off from the second-floor restaurant, which is the one good thing about this lodge. Otherwise, I wouldn't call it a hotel. Travel agents seem to book it often, and checkout is at 9:00 am, after which they’ll throw you out. If your agent suggests it, ask for somewhere better. There are plenty of good hotels in Port blair.

The rooms are on the small side, and when I booked two, the TV cable worked in one but not the other. Still, the painted walls make nice photo spots, and room dining is available. The staff were polite and helpful, and the hotel is very close to the airport, so it was a comfortable option for a short stay.
