Hotel Sathyam

I stopped at this place in Pudukkottai for about an hour while waiting to board my bus to Chennai. The Omni and luxury travel buses park across from the hotel, and it's right on the highway, about 200 meters from Pudukkottai bus stand. I didn't try the rooms or restaurant service.

This was a really bad and old place to stay, and it felt unsafe. The front office didn't respond or listen when I asked for anything. When I requested hot water, the staff member said it wouldn't come then and went back to sleep. I explained that I had to leave early in the morning and needed it, but he said it was only possible after 6, then went back to sleep again.

Overall, 0/5. I had a terrible experience after booking two standard AC rooms online. The front office executive refused to accept the booking at first. Once I convinced the receptionist, I checked in at 8pm, but he said the booking was valid for only 12 hours even though checkout was supposed to be at 12 noon. When I left at 9.30am, he demanded Rs.100 in cleaning charges for each room. The AC barely cooled, no drinking water was brought to the room, the bath towels were torn, and the plug points didn't work, so I couldn't charge my phone. They gave us used toiletries except for the bath soap. The TV picture was poor and full of grain, with only 17 channels. Don't promote online bookings here. Customers have a really hard time.

The outside of the hotel looks really good, but inside is terrible and the rooms are in bad shape. Most of the taps in the bathroom don't work, and there was no hot water either.
