Hotel Shreyas

Our two rooms were clean and simple, with firm, roomy beds. The larger one had a fridge and a sofa with a center table; the smaller room was similar but lacked those. The towels, sheets, bathrooms and rooms were kept clean, though nothing was modern or fancy. The AC struggled to cool the larger room, so we kept the fans on too. There was a built-in speaker system that we never used. Service was good. They brought the newspaper and amenities each day, and room service was prompt. Getting a rickshaw was easy, and FC Road's shops and restaurants were within walking distance. We tried the Maharashtrian thali once. As a Marathi person, I found the Aloo(patra) Bhaji, Solkadhi, koshimbir and dahi wada much too sweet from added sugar. The simla mirch bhaji, pithale, bhakri, masale bhath, Shrikhand, fruit salad and gulabajam were good. It was good value in a convenient spot.

The thali at Shreyas costs around ₹350-₹400, and with more than 12 dishes served without limit, it felt like good value. The dining room is clean and well kept, with a royal sort of ambience, but the price doesn't feel too heavy. The meal tasted like a homely Maharashtrian feast, with well-spiced, light dishes that felt healthy. Everything seemed made with care and tradition, and I couldn't find anything to complain about. Staff were warm, polite, and quick to bring refills. You can order sweets separately for a small extra charge. If you're after authentic Maharashtrian food in Pune, I'd recommend Shreyas.

The room was clean, the bathroom was well maintained, and the towels smelled fresh and came neatly wrapped in paper. Newspapers arrived daily. I especially liked the guest handbook, with the menu, rules, contact numbers, laundry details, and TV channel list all in one place. Breakfast was good, and room service brought hot, fresh food on spotless plates. When we put the room on “DND,” staff respected it. As a solo woman traveller I can be cautious in a new place, but my first stay at Shreyas Hotel went so well that I'd happily return. Check-in and check-out were smooth. Reception staff were kind, helpful, and spoke well; the support staff were professional and courteous too. I'd recommend it, particularly to women travelling.

There were four of us, and we all loved the Shreyas thali and the service. The food had just the right amount of oil, almost like home cooking. The masala puris, masale bhaat, and varan-bhaat were favorites, then we finished with ukdiche modak and puranpoli. Parking may be tricky, though they do have valets.
