The Orchid Hotel Pune Hinjewadi

The staff were warm and efficient, and my room had a great nighttime view of the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway. I visited on a Thursday in Jan, when the hotel was moderately crowded. It's about an hour's drive from the airport. I had a deluxe room. It was spacious, but the property is old and archaic. At 3 am, a loud, mysterious sound woke me and kept repeating until morning. It might have been the AC or something else. What mainly brought down my rating was that they never got it fixed. Breakfast was average. The restaurant is tiny, and servers clear your table as soon as you get up, even if you've left your glass there and are just going for a refill. Someone then takes the table and the musical chairs start again. Also, getting from one part of the hotel to the restaurant is confusing because there are no signs.

The service at The Orchid Hotel, Balewadi was a real highlight. For a poolside event, the staff were attentive throughout the evening, cleared plates promptly, kept the live counters stocked, and were polite and accommodating with our requests. There's loads of parking too. I went to a friend's birthday party there, and the venue felt open and breezy, with plenty of room for guests to mingle. The poolside lighting looked vibrant but elegant after sunset and made for great photos. It had an upscale feel while still being relaxed and celebratory, just right for a private gathering. The catering was another big plus. There was a good mix of finger foods and other dishes, with plenty of vegetarian and non-vegetarian choices. The live counter appetizers came out piping hot and tasted spot-on. Drinks from the pool bar arrived quickly, and the mocktails and cocktails were refreshing and well made. The Orchid Hotel, Balewadi is easily one of the area's best poolside event venues, with a great mix of luxury, food, and lively atmosphere.

The location was the big advantage for us. Gunjan, my child, and I came to Pune for a TT tournament at Mahalunge sports complex in Baner, and Orchid was the best option because it was walkable from the play arena. We stayed from 30th April 2026 to 4th May 2026. It's also a good venue for parties and weddings. I'd rate it 5/5 for location, 3/5 for service, 4/5 for food, and 3/5 for cleanliness. Cleanliness needs to improve quite a bit. The washrooms were slippery, our room sofa was very dusty, and the TV remotes had dust stuck on the keypads. It's not very child friendly either, with no kids' recreational activities or play area on the campus. Being next to the sports complex was useful, though, since we could walk there. We tried food from boulevard’s and Khaas’s. The taste was fine, and room service could adjust the spice level to our preference. I'd recommend the different egg preparations, mocktails, idli sambhar, simple and light Poha, a little spicy Puri sabji, rice dishes, and global cuisine. The desserts and some other items were disappointing: the mango Tres leche at Khaas was too dry, with milk traces left at the end, and the bread tasted old when it should have been soaked in milk. The Tiramisu didn't have mascarpone cheese and was missing chocolate, so it wasn't authentic Italian tiramisu. The Naan was like a flying disk even though we started eating as soon as it arrived. Service was average when we ordered food to the room. Fruit skewers were sometimes missing from an egg white omelette order, and once they said food would take 20-30 min but it hadn't arrived even after 55 min. The people taking orders should get the details right and keep customers updated.

The classic architecture gives this established 5-star property a grand, traditional luxury feel rather than a modern minimalist one. It's well suited to business delegates, large wedding parties, and travelers who want easy highway access, with a strong location for transit and business. The diverse buffet spreads and the famous 'Boulevard' coffee shop are among its strengths, along with its commitment to green practices.
