Hotel New Horizons

The sea view from the room and balcony was easily the best part of my stay at Hotel New Horizons Puri a few days ago. It’s right in the heart of Puri Golden Beach near Swargadwar, so getting around was convenient. The staff were welcoming, polite, and helpful. There’s no kitchen in the hotel, but plenty of food places nearby, and staff helped bring takeaway up to the room. A peaceful, comfortable stay with a lovely view. Highly recommended.

We paid 4k + gst for the room, with no breakfast included. For that price, it felt overpriced and the room was small and only average. There was dust everywhere. I asked to have it cleaned, but still ended up cleaning it myself, and there were cockroaches too. The floor was sticky, the bathroom hadn’t been properly cleaned, and the bucket and mug were very dirty. There was permanent dust on the floor skirting, bed head cushioning, and woodwork. I also had to ask for water because they didn’t leave any in the room. The only good things were the lift, the sea view from the balcony, and being able to cross the road straight onto the beach.

Only the location is good. The rooms are below standard, and the bathroom smells and is in terrible shape. The balcony isn’t cleaned regularly, and there are spider webs and visible fungus in both the room and bathroom. There’s no meal service, yet management charges too much for the poor service provided.

We booked two rooms and both were small and full of cockroaches, big and small. The rooms and bathrooms weren’t cleaned properly either. Worst experience. Don’t waste your money here.
