NRS Royal Palace

Eating with the waves in the background and the sea in view made the meals feel special. The food was fresh, tasty, nicely presented, and there was a good range to choose from. Our room was spacious and clean, with a striking sea view that made both mornings and evenings lovely. The property felt calm and elegant, and the service and comfort were good. A lovely place to unwind by the sea.

Ask for a sea-facing room when booking, because otherwise you may get the kind of view we did. The rooms themselves were comfortable, and the hotel is very close to the sea. Beyond the room, though, the place felt neglected, as if the owners weren’t investing in guest satisfaction. The number of servers and waiters, and the neighborhood, didn’t match what you’d expect from its star rating. The mattresses are so old they have permanent dips. If you’re older, you might want to bring muscle relaxant 😋!

The beach in front is clean, and this spot near Swargadwar is less crowded than the other hotels around there. The rooms and housekeeping were up to standard. I expected more cooperation and better behavior from the front desk, though, so hospitality could improve. Wi-Fi is very weak, and Airtel and Vi mobile signals aren’t strong either.

We stayed as a family and found it pleasant, with comfortable rooms, though they seemed a little small for a 4-star property. The beach is conveniently just across the road. For temple visits, keep in mind that Jagannath Puri Mandir is about a 15-minute drive away. There’s no dedicated parking, only roadside parking, which may be awkward if you’re driving.
