SPOT ON 63771 Hotel Puri Dham

I bargained the daily room rent down from 1200 rupees to 950, for a room with a queen-sized bed and attached bathroom. The lower price came with compromises in quality and service. The thali was 120 rupees and came with unlimited roti, curry, rice and sambar, but only one pampad. The food was satisfactory, though nearby hotels near the temple served similar thalis for 60 rupees with comparable quality and quantity, so this felt overpriced. The room had a geyser, but its capacity was only 4 to 5L, so users had to wait 3 to 5 minutes between showers. If it wasn’t working, reception had to turn on the switch near the staircase. Complimentary water bottles were provided, but the seal looked broken, or the bottles may have been refilled, and the water tasted like tap water. When I asked for replacements, they said I’d have to pay, even though they had the same bottles available. There was no mosquito repellent, and asking reception for help didn’t get anywhere. Buying one at a nearby store would solve that. The room was dirty when I arrived, and repeated requests didn’t get it cleaned. The windows and cupboard were broken, and the TV showed a no connection message. It has basic amenities, but poor cleanliness, maintenance and customer service, with little responsiveness. I’d tell visitors to look at other options unless they can adjust. The main reason for visiting is jagannath ji ka Darshan, not luxury or a vacation.
