The Den Corbett

Meals were a real highlight at The Den Corbett. Every one was made with care, and housekeeping made my room feel like home. There was a bright, positive atmosphere that suited deep meditation, with plenty of sunlight and the river's sound all around. I was facilitating an experiential yoga practice at the Arohana Spiritual Astrology retreat, and support was always just an ask away. Mr. Gurbaksh managed the property beautifully and was charming and supportive with both guests and facilitators. The service was top-notch. Special thanks to Mr Jagdish Negi for helping during the retreat. The Den Corbett Resort has a lovely setting for reflection and learning if you're visiting Jim Corbett.

The room was beautifully decorated, with little details thoughtfully taken care of. I also found the food delicious, and the service attentive and professional. My visit to Den Corbett Resort was relaxing and comfortable, and everything felt clean and well looked after. I really enjoyed the stay and would recommend it for a peaceful, memorable break.

The food was much too spicy for us, even after we asked for a mild palate. Perhaps that's the taste in the region, but none of us enjoyed it, and my two kids spent the three days eating plain rice and bread. There was no bottled water on site, and at least four restaurant jugs had algae on the inside bottom. About a third of the gathering fell ill at the venue or on the way back. I would wager the water we drank was the reason, though I can't be sure. I was at a wedding function here recently. The resort is gorgeous and laid out well, but the poor road infrastructure makes getting there exhausting. Our room looked well laid out, yet had a string of problems: the toilet wouldn't flush, and having it 'fixed' once didn't resolve it. One bathroom basin leaked badly whenever used, while the other sink had no pressure. Two nearby rooms in the same building had the same problems, which points to a serious plumbing fault. We reported this three times and gave feedback before leaving, but the response was cold and indifferent. For a wedding venue, I expected basic amenities to be handled. Management didn't seem to think it needed to step in. Maybe other rooms were better, but three rooms with similar issues should have been a red flag.

I attended a family wedding at this resort from 1-4 Feb 26. The grounds are lively and picturesque, with a good layout and lots of room to walk around, though the location makes for an extra-long journey. The bathrooms in the rooms didn't work, and service to fix them wasn't timely. The kids staying in those rooms had a terrible time. When I gave the owner feedback, he dismissed it by saying the issue hadn't reached him. That's laughable. Is that how service works here? Drinking water was only available when the jugs were filled in the morning. For more, you had to keep chasing staff, which was a nightmare. They say reception is available 24 hours, but no one answered, so at 11 PM I had to carry the jugs there myself to get water. The food was very spicy, and it barely improved after we gave feedback after the first meals. The kids had to get by on rice and curd the whole time. A good-looking resort, if you can put up with all that.
