Sunstone Suites

The rooms are the strong point: they're big, spacious, and nicely furnished in a minimalist, chic style. The wide corridors add a feeling of openness, though the building looks a bit cramped from outside. Staff were cooperative, polite, and local. Since this is a new property, the rooms are well maintained so far, but the long-term picture will depend on the guests it attracts and how consistently it is looked after. A year or two should make that clearer. There are still gaps in the setup. The kitchen isn't operating, and laundry and standard bathroom bathing liquids are missing. Parking is a major concern, with no dedicated space, and the car showroom below adds congestion. Breakfast was okayish, acceptable but nothing memorable. My stay was decent, and with better amenities, smoother operations, and improved parking, it could become a solid option in Ratnagiri.

We found this place on Google and were glad we stayed. Our family of 4 had plenty of room in the executive suite, which had the essentials, AC, and quick room service. The receptionist was especially kind, explained the details, and showed us to the room. A very good and comfortable stay for us.

Breakfast is served in a small hall since there's no separate restaurant. The food was average, but the staff were helpful and courteous. This is a relatively new hotel, and the rooms have high-quality furniture and bathroom fittings.

This was our 3rd stay at Hotel Sunstone, Ratnagiri, dated 26/5/26, and sadly it'll probably be our last. One extremely rude, unprofessional receptionist, the lady with a mole above her lips, made it that way. She had also caused issues during our previous stay, when we accidentally took the hotel key with us. Instead of handling it politely, she argued unnecessarily and demanded ₹500. This time we had booked 6 rooms, 4 Executive and 2 Deluxe. We paid full charges for the Deluxe room for our driver, like any other guest. One room had 3 occupants, so we asked for an extra bed. Night staff agreed to ₹300, and we settled it peacefully. At checkout the next morning, the receptionist changed the charge to ₹600 and argued aggressively. She said, “How could you book a room for your driver in our hotel? That’s against our rules.” We paid the full room amount, so why should it matter who stays there? A driver is a human being too. Her behavior was disgusting, disrespectful, and unacceptable. After a heated argument, we paid the ₹300 extra mattress charge as the night staff had agreed, and checked out. Nearly 3 hours into our journey, the same staff member called to claim we'd broken a glass and demand ₹100. We said any damage should have been checked and settled before checkout. When we asked, “Are you trying to harass us?” she replied, “Yes, I am harassing you.” I bluffed that I'd recorded the conversation, and as soon as she realized that, she changed her tone and disconnected. We had booked 6 rooms, so did they really think we'd run away over ₹100? This wasn't about the money, it was harassment and arrogance from the reception staff. Hotel Sunstone seriously needs to train its staff in basic manners, professionalism, and respectful communication with paying guests. Absolutely pathetic customer handling, a very disappointing experience.
