Hotel Sagar Inn

I had booked a suite for two days, and it was a miserable stay. MMT lists the property as three stars, but in my experience it doesn’t merit even one. The room had hair on the bed, cigarette butts lying around, and mosquitoes everywhere. They didn’t bring mosquito repellent when I asked. Getting basic things like towels, bath kits, or drinking water meant asking four or five times. On several occasions, water arrived only after 1 to 1.5 hours and repeated calls. Breakfast was awful in both quality and hygiene. They served water in reused bottles, and the dining area looked very questionable. I’d advise people to find another place and not book here.

The staff were pleasant, and the rooms themselves are good, but there’s a lot of maintenance left to do. The rates felt too high, especially since friends said cheaper AC rooms were available nearby for less than half the price. Parking is limited to about three or four cars. There were issues in the bathroom: the flush leaked, it wasn’t very clean, and there were ugly stains. Gaps in the false ceiling let insects fall through, and the exhaust fan seemed not to work or be connected. The ceiling fan made a lot of noise because it was missing a screw. When I reported it, they dealt with it using insulation tape. Once the pending work is done, the hotel could be in good shape. I wish them well.

The staff were friendly and keen to help, even though we arrived late. They carried our bags up to the room and helped us park the car. The building looks nice and bright, and the location is convenient for a reasonable price. It does need upkeep, though: the fridge in our room was dirty and smelled bad.

The parking was open-air and unsatisfactory, while the complimentary breakfast was just okay. My check-in on October 6 was handled with a remarkably good attitude. I checked out the following morning, October 7, and the staff member on duty was rude and arrogant. He insisted that I pay the room rent in cash and even asked if I could go to an ATM to get money. That kind of treatment isn’t acceptable. The location itself is good.
