The balcony looked out onto the lively main road, and every so often a toy train would pass. Shops, restaurants, and Salbari Bazaar were all close at hand. Service was excellent: the reception team was friendly, staff were lovely, room service was great, and most requests were handled quickly. The food and drinks were good, as were the cleanliness and Wi-Fi. The room itself was decent, though the kettle had a lot of Vix in it, as if someone had used it for steam. That was the only issue. I'd rate it 4.6/5.

The reviews of Green Wood Hotel in Siliguri seem quite mixed. People often praise the friendly, helpful staff, including the manager, and the convenient location for travelers to Siliguri. Clean rooms and bathrooms come up in some reviews, and the restaurant's food gets good comments too, though some guests feel it's a bit expensive. There are also complaints about rooms being poorly maintained and needing work, along with some rooms missing basic toiletries or other amenities. Service seems inconsistent, with some guests happy and others reporting a poor experience. So there are clear positives around the staff and location, but room upkeep and service don't sound reliable for everyone.

There's plenty of parking, and Salbari market is nearby for essentials. We had a pleasant stay at Greenwood hotel, a handy place to stop before heading into the hills. The in-house restaurant serves good food.
