Vatika Homestay

The people looking after the property were a poor family, but they were really sweet and behaved very well. The car parking was good and safe. The place itself is beautiful, but the stay was far too expensive for the poor service. My father and I stopped here for two nights during a road trip to Mahakumbh. Deluxe rooms weren't available, so we paid ₹2500 a night for a budget room. Mosquitoes kept us from sleeping. The aluminium doors had large gaps where bugs could get in, and felt too weak for safety. The room was small and looked cheap, with aluminium doors and cabinets. There was only one working power outlet, so we had to choose between charging our phones and running the mosquito repellent. The price didn't feel justified. Neither the room nor bathroom was cleaned during our two nights. We only got water after asking, and there was no jet spray in the toilet, so you have to use toilet paper or a mug after using the commode. We asked three or four times for a food menu but never got one in our room, so we ate outside. On the last night, we ordered aloo paratha at ₹50 each, but the taste, quality and quantity were all subpar, and we were left hungry. I'd suggest eating at one of the good eateries nearby. Bring a power extension cord if you want to charge your devices without spending a sleepless night with mosquito bites. There didn't seem to be professional staff: the manager appeared for check-in and then vanished, and there was no proper cook or cleaner. The owner has left the poor family to do everything, from cleaning and garden upkeep to cooking. It's understandable that they're not trained professionals, so the service is poor.

The large garden makes it easy to relax in the peaceful surroundings, and the owners and staff were always helpful when we needed something. The homestay is away from the city hustle and bustle, just right for a calm getaway. Our room was clean, spacious and well maintained, with a cozy, home-like feel. Its own organic vegetable farm is a lovely touch. I had a wonderful stay at Vatika Homestay and would highly recommend it for a serene break.

I loved the homely feel, and the location was perfect for my visit to the Buddhist temple in Sarnath. Ms. Nalini ji stayed in touch and was very helpful with my booking. The cook, Ms. Saroj, was the sweetest person, and her gobi parathas were delicious.

Our stay from 15th to 19th April was great. The rooms were clean and decent, and the place is lovely for family gatherings and functions. The owner is a gem of a lady, cooperative and always ready to help. She made us feel at home. It feels like a paradise surrounded by nature.
