The interiors look nicer now, and the place itself hasn't changed much. But my return visit in December 2020 was a letdown. I used to come regularly from 1985 to 1988 and remember the Irani chai and maska buns fondly. Now the tea comes in paper cups, which just doesn't suit Irani chai, and the old ambience is gone. The buns seem to be bought from elsewhere instead of made in-house; they tasted just like the ones from any Iyengar bakery in the twin cities.

I paid 35 for egg bhurji yesterday, as the menu listed it at 35 Rs. When I came back today for the same dish, the receptionist said the price had gone up to 40, though the menu still showed the old rate. He was hostile and rude. As a non-Muslim, I felt he used racist language toward me. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I've had, and I wouldn't recommend coming here. The receptionist should be punished for his attitude.

If you enjoy tea or Hyderabadi cafe culture, this is a place to stop. It's a landmark known for Irani chai and Osmania biscuit.

It's an old Irani hotel, and the name is the only popular thing about it. The tea and snacks were terrible. Don't bother trying them.
