Courtyard By Marriott Shillong

We felt welcome and comfortable throughout our stay, thanks to staff who were polite, helpful and quick to assist with a smile. The hotel’s food was delicious, with plenty of fresh, flavorful choices. The buffet was organized well and kept replenished, and breakfast stood out for its range of hot dishes, fresh fruit, bakery items and drinks. Warm hospitality, attentive service and good food made this a memorable stay. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend it for comfort, service and dining.

The rice and dessert were tasty, and parking was good. The rest of the food I tried missed the mark for me. The cucumber slices didn’t look clean, the naan was hard, and the chicken curry wasn’t cooked well. The chow they were making tasted bland. A five-star hotel needs a very good chef.

The restaurant, bar and housekeeping staff were warm, friendly and welcoming, and the property itself was clean, well maintained and quite good. The front desk, though, was disappointing. The staff seemed cold and dull, with little hospitality or even a basic smile. It felt more like dealing with a government office than a hotel reception. Hopefully management can improve that experience, since the property and the rest of the team are good.

We spent four days here and left with a lovely memory of the place. The staff were smiling and gave us very personal service. After our last breakfast, several of them wished us “bon voyage” with a piece of cake, which was a sweet highlight. Abhishek, Kelly and Phibakordor made sure we had a great experience. Our room was large, had a view and all the amenities. There’s a big restaurant with a wide choice of tempting cuisines, plus a swimming pool on the first level with seating beside it and a dedicated bar. The gym is well equipped, and there’s a spa too. The hotel is right in the heart of Shillong. We couldn’t ask for more.
