OYO 11853 Pumpkin Rooms Dhankheti

The service and breakfast were good, and the location was excellent. The hotel manager and staff were awesome too. I’d give this the best hotel in Meghalaya title, and if I could rate it above 5, I’d give it a 10.

The cupboards and washrooms had a smell, and the food was below average. Breakfast was puri sabji only, though they had bread and eggs if asked; packaged drinking water was available, but better to buy it before you enter the hotel. The location was good, and the service was very good. Staff were cooperative and really kind.

The staff were well behaved, and the place is quite close to Shillong’s centre, about 1 kilometer from Civil Hospital and 2.5 kilometers from Police Bazar. Still, reaching Pumpkin rooms in the residential area of Dhankheti was difficult, and we needed Google Maps to find it. The rooms and bathroom were extremely small, the bed smelled bad, and although they gave us water, we had to ask ten times for a glass. The facilities were very poor, and what I paid didn’t feel worth it. You could stay there if you don’t have another good choice.

We booked four rooms for three nights, but left the next day. The price felt high for the condition of the rooms, with damp lower walls and a bad smell that gave me a headache. The crew only sprayed perfume after we asked, the toilets weren’t good, and security felt loose. Around 1 at night someone knocked on our door and made noise in the hotel, but there was nobody at reception to call. It was a pathetic stay. Don’t book based only on the room photos online.
