The rooms we were offered were damp and had no windows. Ventilation was only through a noisy exhaust fan. If you don’t smoke, the air still leaves you feeling like you’re being made to breathe secondhand smoke.

For the price, the location and rooms don’t add up. They’re tiny, box-like rooms with no balcony, and they’re all on the ground floor.

I’d paid the full amount online for an OYO booking through MakeMyTrip, but they still refused to let me check in. Avoid booking OYO rooms if you want to spare yourself the hassle.

Everything about that hotel was awful: the room, the staff, all of it. Picking it cost me my money and the whole time I spent there.

A nice hotel in Police Bazar, with a view of Ward's Lake Shillong.
