The room was a decent size, and the location worked well, with taxis easy to find nearby. I also really liked the Maggi at breakfast. But the sheets and pillowcase were dirty, and the bathroom in Room 102 flooded. After showering, you have to sweep the water out yourself. The staff were decent and polite except for the receptionist. They wouldn’t even give us a free bottle of water, so be aware.

The hotel staff were kind and good, and that’s the only reason I’m giving one star. The place itself was awful: no parking at all, and the rooms were old and very dirty. It wasn’t suitable for a family. We booked four days but left on the first day. I doubt I’ll get a refund for the remaining four days. We trusted OYO when booking, but after ending up with a place this bad, how can I trust them? I don’t know how OYO chooses these rooms.

After an eight-hour drive, I got to the hotel and the receptionist simply denied that I had a booking. I’d booked and paid online, but he didn’t even check my confirmation email or their own records. The behavior and professionalism were terrible. This happened to me for the first time in shillong, and this particular hotel was disgraceful. I’d never book it online again. They’re cheaters. I wish I could give zero stars, but there’s no option.

On 5 November 2022, I arrived at Gaurdian Guest with my elderly parents and my four-year-old child. The staff said they had no booking under my name, and my family waited on the road at night for an hour. They told us the property wasn’t connected to my booking and to find somewhere else. Only after I showed them the booking and discussed it did they accept it. They put us on the third floor, which was very difficult for my parents, who have asthma. The staff didn’t help move our luggage upstairs either. They were very unhelpful, and the stay wasn’t worth the money.
