The location is good, and the owner seemed like a good person, though he doesn’t live there. The rooms were just okay, but they smelled bad and the bedsheets weren’t hygienic. There’s no restaurant or food service, and no facilities to speak of. Mr. Pal at the front desk didn’t know how to speak to customers. When we asked him for anything, he argued with us, and the staff came across as arrogant. I also found the staff pathetic, and they were all drunk from early evening. It spoiled the mood and our holiday. Don’t book this hotel.

For a one day stay, it’s a solid option for the price, and breakfast and dinner are available cheaply. The staff were cheerful and the service was very good. My room was okay, and the balcony view was pleasing, but the toilet wasn’t great. The taps and shower were loose and malfunctioning. It’s a little far from all the fun area.

On 14TH April 2025, I came to Shimla and stayed at Hotel Basant near the bus stand. The online rate showed 1050. We arrived at 7 Am and the staff first asked for 1500. Once I showed the online price, he agreed to 1200 because of the early check-in. That’s when the problems started 😭. There was no hot water, the washroom taps didn’t work properly, and we had to ask again and again for water 💦. The staff were irresponsible. Please watch the video before considering this hotel. TQ

It’s a beautiful, antique-looking hotel, but the upkeep really let it down. Behind my bed there was a stack of files and papers, and the blanket stank and had visible stains. We got no hot water, and there wasn’t even an intercom or bell to request room service, despite being on the 3rd floor. They seem not to care for the rooms at all.
