We paid 3000 bucks and left over 70% of the food untouched. Not a single dish was decent or even average. The trout had no flavour, like eating paper, and the lehsun mutton tasted only of mustard oil. We didn’t even touch the stir-fried vegetables because they looked so bad. Both the mushroom and tomato soup were like warm salty water. The pasta was far too salty, the overcooked noodles had no salt, and oil was dripping from the fries. They first brought us a burnt pizza, which we sent back, then replaced it with an undercooked one that we had to send back again. I went for dinner yesterday with my family after seeing the reviews and claims about trout, and it was probably the worst meal of my life. It may sound exaggerated, but I’ve never had so many bad dishes put in front of us at once. Insipid, tasteless, inedible food. Avoid at all costs.

It’s easy to get to in Chaura Maidan, and there’s parking too. The ambience is good, and the food is amazing, especially dinner, with a choice of pork, chicken, or fish. The smoked fish is a specialty here. It’s a must-try if you love wholesome meals.
Our family of four, including two children, stayed in one of the large rooms. It was clean and organized, with good space and an extra bed. The only downside was that the Almirah had no hangers or other provision for clothes. The food tasted good, especially breakfast. It’s a small, well-maintained hotel with very reasonable prices. The manager, Asha Ram ji, takes great care of the property, and we felt at home during our stay. It’s a little away from the hustle and bustle of mall road, Shimla, which is 2.6 km from the hotel. We had a great experience and would stay again when visiting Shimla.
The owner is nice and helpful, and there’s a good restaurant for breakfast and dinner. It’s cheaper than most places in shimla and a bit more peaceful, though it’s about a 20-minute walk to "the mall". The shower wasn’t great, with hot water lasting only five minutes each time.
The lodge is in a Heritage area, very close to the historic state museum, and the location was amazing. The food was truly delicious, including smoked trout fish, which is a delicacy. I’d give the food and service 5 stars. The owner was extremely helpful. I’d recommend this place to everyone and would love to visit again.
