The manager’s response was the worst part. After I insisted on speaking with him about the cancellation, the receptionist transferred my call and said the manager was on the line, but he wouldn’t listen to my side. He shouted that this was what happened when I hadn’t paid upfront, then hung up. The staff handling was 000, guest handling 000. I’d think twice before booking this hotel. I’d booked Hotel Raj for 4 pax on December 29-30, a month earlier, with “PAY AT THE PROPERTY.” Today I called to ask about adding an extra bed because one more person had joined us. The receptionist said it wasn’t possible and we’d need another room, so I said to proceed. They said they’d confirm and let me know on WhatsApp. A little later they messaged that they couldn’t provide a room for 5 people and that my confirmed room had been cancelled without telling me. When I asked how that could happen, they said booking.com had cancelled it. The receptionist seemed confused and couldn’t explain clearly. When I asked for the manager, I was first told he wasn’t available. The way staff and the manager behaved made me feel the situation could have escalated if it hadn’t been resolved.
