The wooden walls are thin, so you can hear more than you might like, though for a hostel at this price it didn’t feel like a major issue. Most people are out or asleep anyway. Even as a solo woman traveler, I felt safe here and would stay at Cocos Hostel again if I return to South Goa. I’d nearly headed home after a terrible first two nights in another hostel. Then I spotted Cocos Hostel on a walk and decided to give it a try. I’m so glad I did. It’s pretty and well cared for, with a little patio and garden for each dorm, clean rooms, and proper lockers with keys. I spent three days in the female dorm and found it great value. The beach is barely a three-minute walk away. Everyone was kind and helped me feel safe, but Mr. Satish especially made the stay memorable. He helped arrange an affordable dolphin trip with boat stops including Butterfly Beach, Monkey Island, and Cola Beach, with a chance to see dolphins. Transport there and back was included, and it cost much less than the quotes people were getting at the beach. That night I was upset about something personal. Satish came to the hostel and brought me ice cream, probably after seeing me crying or looking down on the balcony. I don’t even eat ice cream, but the gesture meant a lot. On the day I left, I couldn’t find a ride to the bus pickup point. He arranged an auto and insisted I didn’t need to pay the driver because he’d sorted it out. He told me to relax and enjoy my time there. I’ll remember his words, “do not take so much stress in life about anything.” You meet all kinds of people when you travel, but only a few restore your faith in humanity. Satish was one of those people for me this year. He treated everyone with the same care and consideration, and he’ll always be a big part of what makes this hostel special.

For an affordable one-night stop in palolem, Coco hostel is a good option. We had a small private room that was clean and tidy, and the price was reasonable for a short stay. The receptionist made check-in easy and even helped us find a good restaurant at 1 o’clock at night.

I came planning to stay one or two days, then ended up spending six. It’s a quiet hostel and I met some lovely travelers. If you’re in Goa for a reflective trip and peaceful South Goa beaches rather than just parties, you may like it. My three-star rating is because I was charged almost 25% more than the price listed on makemytrip. I only noticed the online rate after paying for my whole stay. Other travelers told me they’d booked online at discounted prices. Walk-in guests save the business commission, so I’d expect a discount, or at least a match to the online price. I often book directly to support businesses, and many places have rewarded that with a discount. Here, the opposite happened, which left me a little upset. Best to book online before coming.

Coco Hostel was easy to reach from nearby attractions and transportation. Inside, the common areas were set up nicely for meeting and chatting with other guests. The rooms and beds were comfortable, clean, and cozy, and the whole place felt welcoming and well cared for. Staff were friendly and ready to help with questions. It’s good value, and I’d recommend it to anyone after a comfortable, sociable stay. I’d be glad to visit again.

For solo travelers or anyone happy sharing a hostel, Coco Hostels is an affordable choice and a good way to meet people. The open common areas are clean, with carrom, chess, table tennis, and other games. Rooms are clean too, and there are lockers. The bunk beds are good. I visited South Goa from 20th November to 22 November 2025 and booked through MakeMyTrip, which gave me a good price. I looked at the cottages and beach rooms too, and they all looked good, though I felt the prices were too high. For a tighter budget, and for bikers, the hostel works well for men and women. The beach is a ten-minute walk. Dedicated parking is available a hundred meters away. Outside food and drinks aren’t allowed. The volunteers were helpful and we enjoyed our stay. Food and drinks were standard-priced, though portions were small. Thanks to the Coco Hostel team.
