Mayelle Guesthouse

A very nice, low-budget place to stay, the best one I’ve found in India so far. It’s very near the beach, and the staff are friendly. The room and bathroom were clean, the bed was comfortable and clean, and there’s a small balcony. Soap, toothpaste, and towels were provided.

A great spot for a quiet life in South Agonda, especially if you’re fine with almost no connection to the outside world. The WiFi is terrible here and there’s no mobile signal, which is why I’d take off a star. The flush wasn’t working in one room. Each room has its own balcony, though each one is right next to a neighbouring balcony. There’s a hot shower, and they allow pets, so we could keep 3 of our cats with us. Cute farm animals, including pigs, are around, and from the West side balconies you can sometimes spot baboons in the treetops. We tried offering food to a mama baboon with her baby to befriend them, but she wasn’t keen!

The rooms have plenty of space, and the amenities are good, including WiFi and hot water throughout the day. Getting around by public transport is difficult since it’s away from the main village. With your own vehicle, though, it’s no problem.

Mayelle is a small, family-run hotel tucked into a quiet neighborhood, a short walk from the centre of agonda. I stayed three nights and found it had what I needed. The rooms are large and have balconies, and the bathrooms were clean with hot water 24 hours. WiFi was available too, all at a good price.
