We were told this houseboat on Dal Lake would be listed on major travel sites, but it turned out not to exist. The listing promised a full refund for cancellations made before check-in, yet they demanded advance payment and then refused to give the money back. We also heard similar things had happened to other people. It’s shocking that listings like this appear on trusted platforms. Check everything carefully before booking in Srinagar, and don’t pay in advance.

The owner was very rude, and complaining didn’t help: the response was to take it or leave it. The executive suite was advertised with a jacuzzi, but there wasn’t even a bathtub in the room. This was the worst experience of our trip. The suite is a complete scam.

Nazim, the caretaker, was kind and welcoming, and the boat house had cozy furnishings and a lovely cultural feel. The stay, food, and service all felt authentic. The heating could have been a little better.

The caretakers were rude and the hospitality was awful. Our room had no AC, even though air conditioning was included in the booking, and they wouldn’t honor online bookings. We weren’t given water with the included meals, and the TV didn’t work either. Horrible experience, it felt like a scam.

The room was small and had two beds, although I’d asked for one large bed. The AC was being used as a heater, and after a while it made the room feel suffocating. There was no drinking water in the room, no kettle, and the TV didn’t work. The caretaker tried to help, but asked for a tip at the end. When I complained about the room, the owner was rude. The property looked nothing like the luxury photos and was well below average.
