Hotel Gulistan

We stayed at the hotel in March 2025, coming from Delhi, and had an amazing experience. The rooms were neat and clean, and the service was excellent. We’re grateful we met Mr Frahan. He’s a helpful, decent person, and we really appreciate the way he treated us.

It felt homely, and the owner and his son were helpful when we were looking for good travel deals. They also accommodated customized requirements, and the alley has a main gate that gave us a sense of security. The location is near Dal Lake Ghat 2, though the map pin is wrong, so call the number listed on Google to get the correct directions. There are a few things that could be better. We stayed three days and the room wasn't cleaned once, and the geyser wasn't very effective. The owner's son should also respect guests' privacy before coming into the room to talk, since families, especially women, may be uncomfortable with that. In my opinion, the rooms may not be worth INR 1600.

Dal Gate no. 2 is only about a five minute walk, and the rooms are spacious and clean. We stayed five nights as a couple and had a relaxing time. The owner is a Lionheart and would take a bullet for you, while service boy Imtiyaz was always on his feet. The power cuts are a town problem, so we can't blame the owner. You get more than you pay for, so go for it. If you expect more than you pay for, no hotel in the world will be good enough for you.

For the price, the room and bathroom are a good size, though the bathroom wasn't completely clean. There was just one light in the room, and it wasn't enough. The main problem was one of the owners, an older man whose behavior was quite rude. Aside from that, it's a recommended hotel near dal lake.
