Hotel New Shalimar

The location seems decent, but to me it's mostly for show. The rooms smell bad and get really hot in the afternoon, and every room has some kind of problem. Bathrooms are in terrible shape, the electricity is unreliable, and I couldn't even charge my phone using the inverter backup. The Wi-Fi barely works. Staff talk nicely but don't follow through with service. They only serve breakfast, and even that wasn't good. Take my advice and don't stay here.

The rooms weren't in great shape, but the people were wonderful. I went about eight years ago with my family of 12, and they treated us like family. We had one of the best times of our lives 💕, though I might not suggest this place to someone mainly looking for a good room.

I was surprised to find the hotel inside the lake when I went looking for it. Some people might like that setting, but I found the place badly maintained, with dirty floors and bathrooms in poor shape. The first-floor rooms get oven-hot in the afternoons. Avoid it if you can.

I had a horrible stay at Shalimar hotel. Someone who was one of the pimps roaming around the Dal lake ghats brought me there. The hotel is opposite Dal lake in a jungle-like area, and you have to call and wait whenever you want to go out. The neighbors were very loud and easy to hear from the rooms. Inside, the rooms were dirty and smelled awful. The bedding was old and smelly too, and the washrooms were broken and unhygienic. Most windows were broken, the electricity wasn't properly available, and the price was too high. I can't think of any pros.
