Seashell Havelock

Check-out was quick and efficient, and the stay had a relaxed atmosphere that was decently enjoyable. It's about 20 minutes from the jetty area, and we were greeted with coconut water and a leafy tiara. The rooms were decent, with a large separate bathroom, though the yellowish lights were dim and a bit inadequate. Wi-Fi and room service were efficient. The pool was very small, but had a decent jacuzzi; the bar-like structure around it was abandoned. The open bar felt like a small veranda with 8-10 chairs and tables among the jungle, without much liveliness. There were two separate restaurants, one continental and one Ashian, but live music was only in one, so we couldn't see a reason to enjoy music with simple veg food. The executive staff were matter-of-fact, perhaps unaware they were in a five-star category.

We spent two nights at Sea Shell Havelock and one at Sea Shell - Port Blair, and have a long list of issues. At Havelock, don't expect a smile on arrival, and you'll be charged for a child's stay even if they're four, plus for the child's milk with meals. We found a lizard or chameleon in our Andaman cottage. We called reception for help, but no one came until my husband went out to find support staff because they were so busy. Activities are comparatively overpriced and can be booked outside for less. Once booked, there's no cancellation or date change, even when we asked after my grandfather suddenly died; nobody cared. The rooms and property have no view, and several other three-star resorts near Kalapathar beach offer better views and hospitality. Proximity to the jetty is the only advantage, and it doesn't serve the purpose at all. Food was good, but served without a smile despite the high cost. Breakfast had no live counters; even tea couldn't be made on request, and we had to drink what was sitting in a plastic teapot. Their private dinner setup costs 13000+tax, even higher than Tilar and silver sand. We had to call multiple times to get cleaning. Nobody cares or follows up; you're just paying for everything while being stuck there. I'm sure they buy these reviews. I didn't feel any of the things mentioned in them and got fooled.

The complimentary breakfast was tasty and had a good range. We stayed in the Nicobari Cottage, which was clean, well maintained, and really nice. Our time at the hotel was comfortable and pleasant, with kind, helpful, and polite staff throughout. We enjoyed our stay and think it's a nice place.

The scuba, marine trail, and lava trek activities we tried were the best, and the instructors and biologists with us knew a lot. We stayed here for a week and had a great experience. Staff were extremely friendly and kind, and service was amazing. Our Nicobar cottage was great, though it could have been maintained a little better. We'd definitely visit again.
