Silver Sand Beach Resort - Havelock Island

Iba, the front desk manager, and her team deserve a special mention for their hospitality. The staff were courteous, helpful, and attentive, making our stay even better. Silver Sand Beach Resort was very pleasant overall: well maintained, comfortable, and in a beautiful location. We especially liked easy access to the beach, along with the gardens, reception, and pool area. The food was excellent in both quality and taste. A great resort experience.

Management communication was really bad. Repeated emails and calls went unanswered, and others had complained about the same. The beach front could be cleaned more often; there was some plastic, and we picked up a bit, as did many other guests, especially foreign visitors. I wish we Indians had more civic sense and helped preserve this beautiful island. The place itself is beautiful, with beach access, good facilities, friendly staff, and an excellent breakfast. Suman was great and packed a small lunch for our daughter. Maria and Baby were excellent at the great spa facilities. The restaurant was good but had a limited menu; other nearby options offered pickup and drop service at better value. Water activities are extraordinarily priced at the resort, so it's better to book outside. Daily taxis can get very expensive, so if you're comfortable riding a two-wheeler, you can explore the island that way.

The location is the resort's one good point, but the warmth was missing and I wouldn't recommend it. Staff, from the manager down, were rude and started by saying no to everything; perhaps they needed more training. The only good staff were the kitchen manager, sardarji, and Vicky. I'd have given two stars, but they did accommodate our extra bed request, so I'm giving three.

Tapan was helpful and courteous. He arranged our jetty transfer, had our bills ready so we wouldn't have a last-minute rush, and handled guest requests promptly. Staff hospitality was the best part of our stay at Siver Sand beach resort. The private beach was clean and peaceful, and the resort put on a wonderful Christmas eve party with awesome decorations, music, and food. We had a lovely stay.
