Fabhotel Shivaay Paradise

After a few days here with friends, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to tourists or visitors from outside India. The staff started out really nice, but their attitude changed quickly. They lied about the price we had agreed on and tried to charge us extra for no reason. When we asked for help with the wifi, they laughed at us and barely helped. The kitchen staff seemed unsure of what they were doing, and the service overall was really bad. There are much better hotels here with lower prices and better staff.

The rooms weren’t ready when we finally got to the hotel, even though we arrived at 2:30 PM for a 12 PM check-in. They only gave us rooms at 3:30, after a frustrating 2-3 hours spent trying to find the place. For someone new to Rishikesh, the location is very hard to find, and the hoteliers’ phone number wasn’t available on Google. FabHotels also didn’t give us a contact number to communicate with them. The staff didn’t seem to know basic hospitality. They provided no complimentary Bisleri water, soap, or even towels. I’d give a minus rating if I could, so please take this as my most negative rating and don’t book here.

We were given Room No 203. Getting there means climbing 2 floors because there is NO LIFT, which I wouldn’t recommend for anyone accompanying older people. The balcony is intruded on by the adjacent building, the furniture is chipped, and the PVC walls are burnt in several places. The fan has no regulator and the AC didn’t work. There’s parking for at least 6 cars, first come, first served. The bathroom has a 7 ltrs capacity geyser. The location in Tapovan Area, near Laxman Jhula, is a plus. It’s 1km away on foot and by car. Parking and the vicinity to Laxman Jhula were the only good things during our 1 day stay. Everything else was disappointing, and the hotel needs to improve its professionalism, hygiene, and amenities. Cleanliness is a major concern. The rooms weren’t cleaned properly, the washrooms were left dirty, and it took an hour after we reported it to get a spotted toilet seat cleaned. The managerial staff were accommodating but had no control over housekeeping. There were also serious amenity problems. The rooms had dirty washrooms, and the hotel should focus on hygiene. FabHotel should concentrate on cleanliness. The fan had no regulator and the AC wasn’t working.

The staff were nice, and there’s an in-house restaurant. Location is a strong point, right in the heart of tapovan and near Lakshman Jhulla. It’s an average 3 Star hotel, fine for a short stay. We ran into a few facility gaps: there was occasional water shortage in the bathrooms, no hangers in the wardrobes, and no towels or toiletries in the bathrooms. The restaurant took longer than needed to prepare food, and prices go up in peak season.
