Hashtag Hostel

The stay ended with a stressful argument. Because of heavy Rishikesh traffic, we reached the hotel around 8:45 PM. Staff member Rahul then said checkout was at 5 PM, which nobody had told us, and got aggressive while demanding another ₹1000. We were close to calling the police over his rowdy behavior. The owner eventually stepped in and asked for ₹500 extra to end the conflict. We'd arrived around 2 AM after looking for somewhere to stay, and a staff member approached us by our bus. He first quoted ₹3000 for two rooms, then raised it to ₹3500 when we explained we had a bus in the evening and would leave around 7:30-8 PM. We agreed and paid. The rooms were unhygienic, with pan stains in the cupboard drawers, a bad smell, and no basic toiletries. We had to ask for soap and got just one for both rooms. Service was unsatisfactory. I strongly don't recommend this hotel because of the poor hygiene, misleading pricing, and staff's unprofessional, aggressive behavior.

A horrible stay. The place was very unhygienic, and they wouldn't even provide hot water or other basic amenities.

The rooftop restaurant has standard menu items at reasonable prices. We booked three beds in a six-bed dormitory, the beds were comfortable enough, and the staff were cooperative. It was a good experience overall.

The rooms are spacious, but old, and some don't have an electric kettle. We also couldn't get drinking water. When I raised this politely, they said there was a problem and they'd fix it soon. By the next morning the regular water had stopped too. I told the receptionist and manager, but nothing happened until I went to the desk around 9:30 am and had to raise my voice. Only then did the water come back. There was no hot water when we returned in the evening either. The private rooms have no geyser, just solar heated water, which wasn't working. I visited with my family two days ago. We booked two private rooms for four people. It's hard to find the hostel, and you have to call them. The signboard with the hostel's name isn't lit. The service was the worst, and the staff didn't seem enthusiastic about improving it. It's not as good as its rating suggests. I'd avoid it.
