Hotel Green Palace

I fell ill while on holiday and couldn't make it to my booking. The staff were amazing and accepted my cancellation at short notice. The staff and management are truly compassionate and wonderful people.

The price made this a real bargain, even though the hotel is about 7 kms from the main temple. We rented a 2 bhk with a living room, dining room, and balcony. The rooms were clean, and bathrobes and toiletries were provided when we asked. Wi-Fi had connectivity problems on the first floor, which needs attention. There is an in-house restaurant, Green Heaven. The food was okay, but the quality could be better.

This is more like an apartment with bedrooms, a dining room, and a kitchen than a hotel, so skip it if you're after somewhere swanky. The price is moderate compared with hotels, and I found it cheaper than a proper hotel. We rented a two-bedroom place for two days as a family of four with our pet. The rooms were reasonably clean, both bedrooms had working AC, and hot water was available in one bathroom. The tiled walls in every room made the interior design feel odd. The linen had been laundered but looked worn and wasn't spotless. The staff were courteous and helpful. They provided a mosquito repellent when we asked and responded right away to other requests. We didn't use the restaurant and ordered through swiggy, since the property is just outside Thanjavur city. The property sits in a quiet colony with lots of open space. We noticed a film crew staying there, probably more than 10 or in the tens. They had a large kitchen setup operating outside the hotel, with supplies in the lobby, where some kitchen staff were prepping food, especially cutting vegetables. We didn't mind, and I actually liked the smell of freshly cut vegetables, but mention it so people know what to expect. There are two convenience stores in the colony, including one run by the hotel. Our pet enjoyed the stay. Walking her there was an adventure, with the colony dogs protesting the intruder, though it didn't go further than that. There's plenty of vacant space for our dog to do its business. A covered shed has room for five to eight cars, and there's also shade by the hotel for parking.

Really nice ambience, and all the vegetarian options are good.
