SPOT ON 84555 Venkata Sai Residency

My family was left outside after a tiring drive to Tirupati, with my mother and aunt there too. I’d booked two rooms for four adults through MMT, which partnered with OYO, and had paid online. At reception, they refused to check us in and told us to contact OYO to cancel because they would only take cash. Then they claimed we had booked two tiny rooms with 2x6 cots, supposedly for two people to share, even though I had clearly booked for four adults. They suddenly raised the price as well. They said they’d delisted from OYO long ago and that it wasn’t their fault. The staff were extremely rude, and one told me people who book cheaply share a 2x6 bed. We paid the listed price; they aren’t doing charity. It felt like they lure families in with a low price and then make their own demands when you arrive. I’ve never had such a bad hospitality experience. I’m going to post this review wherever I can and email the CEOs of OYO/ibibo and MMT. Don’t book here, and don’t entertain these scammers.

The room was so small and poorly maintained that we decided not to stay at Venkatasai Residency. After a difficult drive, we found it in a narrow building on a very narrow street. At the desk, the staff said there was no booking, questioned us about several details, then demanded another Rs. 200/- because they said only one person was booked and an extra guest cost more. I had booked for two and paid the stated rent in advance, trusting OYO’s reputation. We found another good hotel at an awkward hour and were comfortable there. I made an oral complaint through customer care and asked OYO to refund the payment since we didn’t stay. I’m still waiting to hear what action they take.

I booked three rooms through Oyo, but on arrival the hotel refused check-in because I’d paid Oyo online. They told me to contact customer care. After I cancelled, Oyo wouldn’t refund me, saying I should have cancelled 24 hours earlier. A nightmare. Locals also told me the hotel had a bad reputation, that guests drank and misbehaved there, and that police raids happened regularly.

Bugs and hair everywhere, and the rooms smelled of mildew with a humid feel in the air. Nothing seemed clean, and the customer service was awful. The staff were respectful, but the room hygiene was still terrible. I posted pictures of the room. I wouldn’t recommend it, and I’ll never spend money on a room like that again.
