Taj Fateh Prakash Palace

Our Royal Suite at Taj Fateh Prakash Palace, Udaipur was spacious, beautifully furnished, and full of Rajasthani heritage decor, with stunning views of Lake Pichola and the City Palace. Set within the historic City Palace complex, the hotel brings together royal character and modern luxury. Every corner felt elegant, historic, and comfortable. The Taj team handled everything with warmth and care, from smooth check-in to thoughtful in-room service. Dining was just as impressive, with authentic flavors in a setting that brought the Maharaja era to mind. The peaceful ambience, cultural richness, and central Udaipur location make it a great choice for travelers after a luxury heritage hotel with a strong sense of history. Highly recommended for royal living and Taj's world-class service.

The setting is the real draw here. Taj Fateh Prakash Palace, Udaipur sits beside the City Palace, with Lake Pichola and the Taj Lake Palace right in view. Watching the sunset from the poolside was lovely, and the building has that grand, historic feel. We stayed one night and the base room had an old-world character, but it felt small and could have been cleaner for the price. The windows don't open, so the room felt closed in; an opening window or balcony would make the views much easier to enjoy. Breakfast was decent for Indian tastes, though nothing lavish, and getting service was slow. That was a broader issue: one staff member seemed to be covering luggage, room service and housekeeping, and looked overworked. People weren't rude, but they weren't especially warm or proactive either, which felt below what I'd expect at a five-star place. I'd still say it's worth staying once for the location, views and palace atmosphere, but don't count on the attentiveness we've had at other Taj, Marriott or Accor properties.

Ms. Sujata Pandey made a huge difference to our stay at TAJ Fateh Prakash Palace. She looked after me and my family so thoughtfully, and even friends who came to visit noticed how proactive and professional she was. Her smile set a welcoming tone, and she helped us with our Udaipur plans and suggestions for things to do. When Ola wouldn't take my friend and her two-month-old daughter, and the baby was unsettled in the sunlight, Sujata arranged a drop for them with real care for the child. She's a wonderful person and a real asset to the Taj group, and I hope she gets a raise. My friend's husband, who lives in the USA, was impressed by the gesture. He wants to celebrate their child's first birthday at the same property and asked me for Sujata's contact details to plan a family holiday. I also want to thank the whole team for making us feel welcome and comfortable, including the golf cart driver, housekeeping and room service. The taxi driver for the airport transfer was professional and knowledgeable, and everyone we met was hardworking and kind. This was the most peaceful and beautiful hotel stay I've had in India or abroad.
