The Belmonte House

The room felt small, and the pool was unclean, which was disappointing. At check-in, we weren’t given towels or a dental kit. We had our own and didn’t ask, but I think staff should provide basic essentials proactively. The rooftop bar-restaurant was mostly open for drinks, though the kitchen was operating for room service. Food hygiene was a minor concern, even though the food itself was good. The location is average, so getting to major attractions takes some planning. Staff were decent and the hotel was fine, but at around ₹3000 a night it didn’t feel worth the cost.

The breakfast was fresh, tasty, and nicely presented, and the woman looking after that area made the morning special. She was attentive and kind, greeted everyone with a smile, and checked that guests were comfortable and well served. She also gladly offered suggestions and refills. Her service made my stay more enjoyable, and I highly recommend the hotel.

The decor was lovely, and this could be a wonderful property if it were properly maintained. We stayed two nights, but the bathroom smelled bad, the lift was dirty and unpleasant, and the linen was unclean. Some guests asked for fresh linen and did get it, though changing it should have been easier. I hope management improves the look of the place and keeps service at a high standard.

The photos on Google and the hotel site looked pristine, but they seemed 1-2 years old and didn’t match what we found. I booked two nights at The Belmonte House in Udaipur expecting a clean, basic place. Instead, the rooms were unhygienic: stained yellow sheets smelled of sweat and smoke, dead cockroaches were under the bed, and ants crossed the floor. I kept my suitcase on a chair to avoid the dirt. The dining area was just as bad, with greasy tables, sticky floors, and stained chairs. The buffet smelled off. The mixed veg was very cold, as if taken from the fridge. When I asked about it, the waiter took it away and brought paneer gravy instead. I tried calling the front desk from morning using the Google number, but nobody answered. Complaints were ignored, they claimed cleaning had been done when it hadn’t, and the manager brushed things off with excuses. There was no refund or fix, just rude behavior. This was my worst travel experience, and I’d never return.
