Moustache Varanasi

I liked the affordable rates, lockers, and the general feel of the place. It works well for backpackers, solo travellers, and workations. I left my phone chargers, wallet, and some cash on the bed, and everything was untouched when I came back. That says a lot about the discipline here. A few things could be better. I was there for three full days and never got hot shower water. Please make sure everyone gets a proper blanket too. Mine wasn’t in good condition or warm enough for Banaras winter, and matching spreads, pillows, and sheets would make the beds look better and feel a bit more luxurious. The cafe food was fantastic, but the price and portion sizes need more consistency. Some dishes came in generous portions for a low price, while others were too small for what they cost. Food can win people over, so this needs care. One personal suggestion: have a quick intro session at evening chai time for anyone who wants to join. I’m very introverted unless someone starts the conversation, and a little social time would help people like me connect. It would be a nice extra for the hostel’s hospitality. I’m giving Sunil a special five-star rating because he knows how to handle customers. If something can’t be done, he can change the mood and help people feel comfortable with what they do get. That’s a real talent. But Sunil ji, not every customer is so chill, so please handle things carefully. That’s all for now, I’ll write more later, my hand hurts! I had a great two-day stay at Moustache Hostel, Varanasi. The place has a relaxed, social vibe, with lively common areas that make it easy to meet other travellers. Management was organized, and check-in and the daily arrangements all went smoothly. Yash, the manager/owner, was especially helpful and welcoming and made things more comfortable. A few small things could be improved: there were lots of mosquitoes in the evenings, so repellent is useful, the washrooms could be kept a little cleaner, and the French fries I ordered were too spicy for me when I just wanted to relax. Aside from that, everything was well handled and enjoyable. A fun, social, budget-friendly place to stay in Varanasi.

The common area was pleasant and well kept, with snacks and drinks available, and paying was simple. But several things made my stay less comfortable. I arrived at night and there was no proper sign outside, so finding the place took a while and felt unsafe. Power cuts were frequent, which was particularly uncomfortable in the summer heat without electricity in the room. I was also confused by the washroom setup at night and only learned the next morning that it was outside in the balcony area. Guests should be told this beforehand. Better signs, clearer instructions, and more reliable power backup would improve the experience.

The terrace became one of my favourite parts of the stay. I spent a lot of time there and made new friends, while the hostel kept a nice balance of calm and social energy for my spiritual trip. It almost felt like a classy party trip. The place was very clean, hygienic, and well maintained, and the crowd was respectful and felt safe and pleasant. Staff were cooperative, friendly, and always willing to help. I had a wonderful stay at Moustache Hostel, Varanasi, and would recommend it for solo travellers or groups.
