Moon Waves Beach Resort

The sheets and pillow covers were dirty, and they only gave us one water bottle, which we were expected to refill ourselves. There wasn’t proper hot water, and even when we called to ask for something, they didn’t seem bothered. At check-in, they provide one rupees clinic plus shampoo and a medimix soap worth rupees 3. Please check the room before paying, don’t pay in advance, and don’t be fooled by the Google images on websites. High price, cheap quality, and terrible service. Minus rating for this stay.

The one good thing is how close Moon Waves Beach Resort is to Varkala Cliff Beach. That alone couldn’t make up for the dirty rooms, unfriendly staff, and careless handling of basic requests. We weren’t even given a proper blanket, and overall the service felt unprofessional. The rooms didn’t meet even basic hygiene standards. I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless cleanliness, service, and guest comfort improve a lot.

Basic things like an electric kettle, tea and coffee service, and hot water were missing, and the staff didn’t seem to care about customer satisfaction. The hotel felt like a 1-star place, and I’d never recommend it. The rooms were old and dirty, with sand scattered across the floor, especially by the bathroom entrance. The washbasin faucet kept turning and the staff didn’t fix it. We asked to change rooms, but they refused. Pillow covers were very dirty, full of molds and torn in places. The blanket smelled, probably because it had never been washed, and the towel they gave us was covered in mud.

It was my first visit to Varkala, and I had a very good stay at Moon Waves Resort. The beach is an easy walk away, and the people working there were very cooperative.
