The staff were friendly and helpful, and the place is cozy and close to the beach. You can catch part of the sea from the balcony and terrace. Just know there isn't food on site, so you'll need to eat elsewhere or order delivery. We had a good stay.

Breakfast was the one good part. The rooms were dusty and poorly maintained, with cockroaches and lizards, dirty towels, and no proper toiletries. The door locks were faulty and creaked. The rooms also weren't sea-facing like the photos suggested. We left soon because the hygiene was so poor. For what they charged, I felt cheated, since you could get a better, more luxurious hotel in Varkala for the same money. I wouldn't recommend bringing family here.

The manager was cool and humble, though service was slow. We had to wait when asking for water. OmSam is on South Cliff, quite far from North Cliff and its activity, so be prepared to walk about 1 km or take a scooty. The top-floor rooms have beautiful views and make the property feel posh. Ground-floor rooms are decent too, but the front room's bed was much too soft. The smaller back room is great for hanging out with friends and making noise, but its window faces the kitchen, so breakfast cooking in the morning will wake you. Good or bad, you decide 😉.

Omsam Guest Home is easy to reach from Varkala's beaches and busy local market, which made it convenient both for exploring and relaxing. My room had wooden walls, a balcony and a partial sea view. It felt cozy and homey, and stepping outside for the ocean breeze was lovely. The staff were welcoming and attentive, with local tips and help whenever I needed it. The calm setting, comfortable room and warm hospitality made this a memorable visit. I'd recommend Omsam Guest Home for a peaceful stay in Varkala ♥️
