Thanal Beach Resort

Thanal has a lovely view of the cliff, and the hotel and rooms are neat and nice. Receptionist Mr. Ravi was cooperative. We had several power delays during the night. They dealt with them, though the response was only moderate. The price felt a bit high for what was included. I would recommend the property for its view. In Varkala, I think a place like this is a better choice than homestays because the people here are at least responsible. Be careful about these things if you're holidaying with family. I wish Thanal had another property away from the cliff.

There isn't a restaurant at the resort, but that was easy to work around since North Cliff is full of cafes we'd want to explore anyway. The owner and caretaker were polite and pleasant. Check-in and checkout both went smoothly, and the whole stay was a nice surprise. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and carefully put together, down to all the little details. Everything is well maintained and spotless. It's in a prime spot with a lovely ocean view. I'd recommend it to anyone planning to stay on North Cliff in Varkala.

They sent pictures of a room, but I couldn't tell whether they were fake or whether a room like that really exists. We agreed on 6500 for 2 nights and they asked for 4000 upfront. Just as I was about to confirm and pay, all the chats disappeared, leaving no evidence. Luckily I hadn't sent any money. It seemed very suspicious, so I wouldn't recommend booking through the number listed on Google. It looks like a scam.

Waking to waves crashing on the shore from the balcony was the best part of our stay at Thanal Beach Resort in Varkala Cliff. The balcony has beautiful beach views, and the rooms and toilets were clean and comfortable. Everything was well maintained, making for a relaxing visit.
