Hotel Golden Sand

I stopped by during the day to charge my Ultraviolette F77, so I didn't stay overnight. The charger was near the restaurant, and the staff helped me out. The owner was friendly and spent a long time chatting with me. He was also very helpful getting the charge started since I didn't have the app. They have CCS fast charging through Zeon Charging, plus two 16A points, one belonging to BOLT and the other to Kajom. There's a tea shop inside, with basic things available, so you don't need to go out. The property is very close to the Church. I heard the cost is affordable, so maybe I'll try staying next time.

The rooms were just okay, though manageable for a short stay, and they don't look quite like the pictures. Still, the bathrooms were clean, hot water was available the whole time, and the service was good. The location is convenient, about 200 metres from Morning star church, and parking was good too.

Agoda customer support kept passing responsibility, even after I reported the problem several times and provided video evidence. As the booking platform and middleman, Agoda should protect customers instead of sending them back to the hotel. I booked based on the photos and description on Agoda, but the hotel gave us a completely different room when we arrived. Staff said that if we had a problem, we should get our money from Agoda. They wouldn't give us the room shown online unless we paid extra. Asking for more money to provide the advertised room is unacceptable. Customers book and pay based on the pictures and details, and not providing that room is a service failure. This felt like cheating customers with false advertising and no accountability. Very disappointed. I wouldn't recommend booking through Agoda unless you're prepared to fight for what you've already paid for.

The restaurant was a letdown. Breakfast was included, but it still wasn't ready by 8:30, and the restaurant stayed closed until then, with no à la carte option either. Lunch wasn't ready until after 1 pm, and service was very slow. There were plenty of waiters and a cook, but they didn't seem active enough to serve customers. The food itself was average. The place is somewhat near the bus stand and convenient for reaching the churches. But the original room photos don't seem to be posted, and the rooms don't match the pictures on Agoda or in Google reviews. They felt very old, including the AC and bedding, which wasn't properly maintained. They provided no toiletries, linens, or even drinking water. For the amenities, it was overpriced and felt more like a lodging worth 500₹. The church management offers better lodging for 450₹.
